18.1 Applying a Theme In Word, a theme is a means of presenting the content of a document which makes use of three components. A theme comprises of colours applied to text and other elements; to the font styles applied to the headings and to the main body text; and to graphical elements such as 3D effects, shading, gradients and drop-shadows.
